Enterprise works through various outreach initiatives to increase awareness within the emergency response community on matters concerning pipeline emergency response. Some of these efforts are highlighted below.

Enterprise sponsors liaison meetings with emergency responders in counties/parishes where company assets exist. These liaison meetings are designed to allow us the ability to provide important pipeline safety information to emergency responders and answer any questions they may have about our pipeline systems in their area. In addition, some of our Operations personnel conduct face-to-face meetings with local fire departments and other emergency officials to discuss important pipeline emergency response information.
This organization is committed to building partnerships between pipeline operators and emergency responders. They do this by sharing the resources and education needed to safely respond to a pipeline related emergency. Enterprise was a founding member of this organization and continues to support its efforts.
This partnership was initiated by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) in an effort to advance the ability of emergency responders to manage pipeline emergencies through improved training, cooperation and communication with pipeline operators. This effort creates an educational environment where pipeline operators and emergency responders work together to create a pipeline safety training curriculum. This information is formulated into training materials which is then distributed to the emergency response community based on the capabilities of the individual participating states. The PERI efforts are gaining momentum and taking place in targeted states throughout the US. Enterprise Operations personnel have been involved in this effort since its inception in 2012, and continues to work with the emergency response community in the applicable states through which our pipelines traverse.
Enterprise worked with its vendor to coordinate table top drills with the FBI and the Office of Homeland Security. These drills were focused on terroristic threats to pipeline infrastructure and involved participation from both the state and federal agencies. The drills provided an environment where intelligence information was exchanged and response scenarios were implemented based on timely decision-making prior to and during the incident scenarios. As a result of this successful collaboration, Enterprise was able to work with these organizations to relay the appropriate protective actions to take in the event of an incident involving a threat to pipeline infrastructure.
With more than two million miles of oil and gas pipelines in the US, pipeline operators implement safety programs to protect their network. These videos are the product of a collaboration between Enterprise and other pipeline operators to emphasize the methods used by operators to safely transport their products. This is a series of six (6) videos that provide: a general overview of pipelines; natural gas pipelines; liquids pipelines; emergency response roles; preparation & resources; and incident management best practices. Click to view the videos and learn more about how pipeline operators safely operate pipelines, as well as the measures taken to work with officials on pipeline emergency response.
